Sustainability

Our Vision

At SilverFalcon, we're committed to setting a new standard for European data centers.
Our goal is to excel in both reliability and sustainability, providing carbon-neutral solutions alongside our partners.
By 2030, we aim to be carbon neutral ourselves, thanks to our use of cutting-edge technology and renewable energy.

Why
Sustainability
Matters to
Our Customers

We understand that sustainability matters to our customers, and that's why we're dedicated to creating a more sustainable future for ourselves and the planet.
Here are some of the reasons why sustainability should matter to our customers:

Lower Costs

Optimizing energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions not only benefits the environment but also saves costs in the long run.
As we continue to implement sustainable practices, our customers can benefit from lower operating costs and increased savings on their energy bills.

Positive Impact
on the Environment

Sustainability is a collective effort, and we believe that our actions can make a difference. Our customers can rest assured that by partnering with us, they're making a positive impact on the environment by reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable practices.

Meeting Regulatory
Requirements

With an increasing focus on sustainability, more and more regulatory requirements are being introduced to ensure companies are meeting environmental standards. By partnering with SilverFalcon, our customers can be confident that they're meeting these standards and avoiding any legal or reputational risks associated with non-compliance.

Our Practices

To achieve our vision, we focus on three key sources that contribute to sustainable practices in data centers: energy, circular economy, and water.

Energy

We know that data centers are among the most energy-intensive facilities, which is why we're committed to reducing our energy consumption in every way possible. Our data centers are powered 100% by renewable energy, including a power purchase agreement with a wind farm. Additionally, we've achieved a major reduction in energy usage thanks to our use of Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage (ATES) and immersion cooling, resulting in a design PUE of 1.15. We're also committed to circular energy by distributing the heat we generate for reuse.

We've also implemented a disaster system that uses backup generators fueled by Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (HVO).
This results in a 90% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to diesel fuel.In addition, we're working towards carbon neutrality by improving energy efficiency, carbon offsetting, reducing embodied carbon, and using HVO as a renewable substitute for diesel for our backup generators. We are committed to transition to hydrogen fuel options as soon as it is commercially viable.

Did you know...
that optimizing energy efficiency is critical for reducing operational costs, improving sustainability, and reducing carbon footprint? By partnering with SilverFalcon, our customers can benefit from lower costs, a positive impact on the environment, and meeting regulatory requirements.

Circular Economy

At SilverFalcon, we believe in the power of the circular economy. That's why we apply circular economy principles by reusing and recycling equipment and materials, using renewable energy, and sourcing recycled materials for construction. We also reuse waste heat, ensuring that 80% of the heat generated by operating IT equipment is repurposed to heat homes and offices in the area. We see major development and future potential in this technology in our journey towards a sustainable future.

Heat export to the district heating network dramatically reduces our carbon footprint and allows SilverFalcon to support the municipality of Amsterdam in its transition away from fossil fuels.

By partnering with SilverFalcon, our customers can benefit from lower costs, a positive impact on the environment, and meeting regulatory requirements.

The building is designed to be repurposed as residential or commercial use in the future. As well as fully demountable construction (can be taken down easily).

Water

We're committed to significantly reducing our water usage, achieving a rate of a WUE of 0.6 on an annualized basis compared to our peers. We accomplish this through the use of recirculation systems, cooling tower optimization, water-efficient fixtures, leak detection, water management systems, and industrial water instead of potable water.
